The Original Indian Street Food Co

The old Indian Coffee Shops of Delhi and Mumbai have almost disappeared. Their robust flavours used to welcome all: affluent entrepreneurs, rickshaw drivers and families. With no air-conditioning, the fans turned viciously. Wicker chairs and bar stools, next to sepia Bollywood portraits. Businessmen coming for breakfast and couples coming for a cup of coffee. Struggling actors and writers dined there.

My favourite one, Indian Coffee House, opened in Delhi in 1957, a generation before I was born, and the company was founded in 1936 by Coffee Cess Committee. This was run by a series of worker co-operative societies.

Indian Street Food Co is my tribute to such fading restaurants in India, and to the street hawkers who are more innovative then 5 star chefs.

Reservations

We keep most tables unreserved so that we can accommodate anyone who visits us. You may have to wait on certain days or at the time of the day you visit. But we will be able to find you a table. If there’s a wait, there is a counter service area where you can have a cocktail or a glass of wine until your table is ready.

BRUNCH AND LUNCH

We take reservations for groups for any size for brunch and lunch.

DINNER

For Dinner, we are open at 5pm. For reservations, we request for the table back 2 hours from the time you are seated, which should be more than enough time to enjoy a meal at ISF.

IF YOU’RE LATE

Please note we can only hold your reservations for 15 minutes. After that, we will release the table and you might need to wait for the next table to be available.
